Privacy Policy

EREF understands that the protection of your privacy is important and that you care about how your personal data is used and shared. We are committed to respecting and protecting your personal data and ensuring your rights as a data subject. All data of a personal nature that identifies you directly or indirectly will be handled fairly, lawfully and with due care. We will only collect and use personal data in ways that are described here, and in a manner that is consistent with our obligations and your rights under the law. This privacy policy describes the collection, use and processing of personal data by EREF in the HYPOSO project.

Description of the HYPOSO project

The HYPOSO Project (funded under the H2020 programme under grant agreement No. 857851) aims at supporting the European hydropower industry while at the same time fostering a sustainable development in selected target countries in Africa and Latin America. It is governed by a consortium of 13 project partners consisting of private companies, NGOs and research institutions from Europe, Africa and Latin America. EREF is one of the project partners and will develop a comprehensive list of European small hydropower stakeholders including hydropower equipment producers, project developers and investors. It will include basic market information about each stakeholder such as key products and services as well as specialities.

About EREF

EREF is the federation of national renewable energy associations from all EU Member States, representing all renewable energy technologies. The association strongly advocates for a full decarbonisation of the European energy system through a transformation of the system to one based on decentralized production from renewable sources.

Purpose of the database (SHP Stakeholder Database)

Companies and organisations from the EU as well as from the five target countries that have confirmed their interest in becoming business contacts with each other will be presented on the HYPOSO homepage. The purpose of this is to build a strong networking platform for experience sharing and strengthening cooperation between SHP actors and policy designers and policy implementers.

By doing so, the project will link the European Small Hydro Power (SHP) industry with the target countries to assist them in addressing their high potential of SHP and to tackle their energy problems, supporting energy security and energy autonomy in a sustainable way. The database is an essential tool to build up the necessary relations to support global climate neutrality.

Type of data collected

For the purpose of the database, only publicly available information about companies and organisations is collected and categorized as follows:
•    Organisation
•    Stakeholder Type
•    Key product/Key Activity
•    Contact info (website and postal address)

However, in individual cases, this information may also allow conclusions to be drawn about private individuals.

Legal basis for processing of data

Where publicly available, EREF processes your data on the grounds of Article 6(1)(e) of the Regulation(EU) 2018/1725 (GDPR) because the ‘processing is necessary for the  performance of a task carried out in the public interest’.

How will the data be processed, protected and stored?

The data of the database is collected out of publicly available information (i.e. company websites). The publicly available information has been gathered by EREF as well as other HYPOSO project partners. EREF will process your personal data for the purposes of the database and the HYPOSO project only.

Your data will be stored in the encrypted database of project partner EREF, located in Belgium (EU Member country). Under no circumstances will your data be sold to third parties. The sole purpose of storing your data is to carry out the research envisaged in the HYPOSO project. Access to personal data not published on the website is allowed only for selected personnel of project partners. We only process your personal data for as long as necessary to serve the purpose of processing. In addition, we are subject to various storage and documentation obligations, including those arising from European Commission and Innovation and Networks Executive Agency related to Horizon 2020 rules and procedures. These obligations can apply for up to 5 years after the project has been finished. In case of a data breach, a procedure will be started to evaluate and solve any security incident, including the assessment of risks of such incident to your rights and freedoms.

The website provider automatically collects and stores information that your browser automatically transmits to us in "server log files". These are:

• Browser type and browser version
• Operating system used
• Referrer URL
• Host name of the accessing computer
• Time of the server request
• IP address

We also use the following third party service providers. You can find their privacy policies separately
on their website, namely:

Plugins and Tools: Google Web Fonts (https://policies.google.com/privacy)

How can you access your personal information and, if necessary, correct it? How can you receive your data? How can you request your personal data to be erased?

You can always review your information on the HYPOSO Website. aYou have the right to access, to rectify, to erase, to restrict the processing, the right to data portability and the right to object, as granted in GDPR Articles 15 -22. If you would like us to delete, update or correct your entry, please contact us directly by email. On receiving such a request, we aim to initiate the account deletion process immediately. We then begin a process designed to safely and completely delete the data from our storage systems, which will be completed without undue delay. If necessary, you can also contact your national supervisory authority on how to exercise your rights according to Article 57(e) GDPR.
You are also legally entitled to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR).
